CONGRATULATIONS
TO THE 2008
NEXT GENERATION JAZZ ORCHESTRA
MEMBERS

Every
Spring, the Monterey Jazz Festival invites the
top student musicians from across the country
and around the world to participate in the Next
Generation Festival.
This year's Festival
took place April 3 - 6 in downtown Monterey,
opening with a concert by A Christian McBride
Situation.

This inspiring weekend devoted
to the future of jazz featured MJF's 38th Annual
National High School Jazz Competition, including
high school big bands, combos, and vocal ensembles,
as well as divisions for middle school, college,
and conglomerate bands.
The Next Generation Festival
also offered free concerts and clinics, and
hosted auditions for MJF’s Next Generation
Jazz Orchestra, which will perform at MJF/51
and in a North American and European performance
tour.
As always, all Next Generation
Festival performances, clinics, and jam sessions
were open to the public, free of charge.
We hope you can join us in our annual celebration of the future of jazz at next year's Next Generation Festival, April 3 - 5, 2009 in downtown Monterey.
