For
half a century now, the Monterey Jazz Festival
has been changing lives through jazz education.
On this historic occasion of our golden anniversary
year, we invite you to join us in our efforts
to perpetuate America's music. We invite you
to celebrate MJF/51 with your contribution to
the Monterey Jazz Festival's Jazz Education Programs.
Thank you for helping us change lives through
jazz education.

Next
Generation Festival / Next Generation Jazz
Orchestra
Every Spring, the Monterey Jazz Festival invites
the top student musicians from across the country
and around the world to participate in the Next
Generation Festival.
Traveling
Clinicians Program / Monterey County
Honor Ensembles
For one week a month during the school year,
the Monterey Jazz Festival sends top professional
musicians and vocalists to work with students
in classrooms throughout Monterey County, helping
them develop their jazz skills.
Latin
Jazz Program
The MJF Latin Jazz Program augments our Traveling
Clinicians Program, helping to teach the fundamentals
of music to young people.
Summer
Jazz Camp
Every year, the Monterey Jazz Festival hosts
Monterey County students in an intensive, two-week
Summer Jazz Camp.
Artist-In-Residence
Program
The Monterey Jazz Festival’s Artist-In-Residence
works year-round with young musicians in performances
and clinics at our Next Generation Festival,
Summer Jazz Camp, and at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Instrument
Bank / Sheet Music Library
The Monterey Jazz Festival created its Instrument
Bank and Sheet Music Library to provide top quality
instruments, charts, books and learning tools,
to school music programs.
Digital
Music Education Project
The newest endeavor in the Monterey Jazz Festival’s
continuing jazz education efforts is the Digital
Music Education Project. Based on the benefits
of students “listening to learn,” the
MJF’s Digital Music Education Project will
allow internet access to interviews with top
artists, including their recommendations of music
every jazz player and fan should experience.
Berklee-Monterey
Connection
For over ten years, Berklee College of Music
and the Monterey Jazz Festival have collaborated
on the presentation of the Jimmy Lyons full-tuition
scholarship to Berklee, and the presentation of
performances by the Berklee-Monterey Quartet at
MJF.
