The Monterey Jazz Festival is the longest continuously-running jazz festival in the world. Since 1958, we have provided world-class jazz performances and year-round jazz education programs.

Since 1971, we have honored the best student musicians with a spot on our All-Star high school big band, now known as the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. 2011 marks the 40th anniversary of this renowned student band.

Today, the Monterey Jazz Festival serves thousands of aspiring young musicians -- regardless of socioeconomic need -- through programs ranging from our in-school Traveling Clinicians Program to the Next Generation Jazz Festival, a weekend devoted to the future of jazz (April 5 - 7, 2013 in downtown Monterey).
