The Monterey Jazz Festival is the longest continuously-running jazz festival in the world. Since 1958, we have provided world-class jazz performances and year-round jazz education programs.

Since 1971, we have honored the best student musicians with a spot on our All-Star high school big band, now known as the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra.

Today, the Monterey Jazz Festival serves thousands of aspiring young musicians -- regardless of socioeconomic need -- through programs ranging from our in-school Traveling Clinicians Program to the Next Generation Jazz Festival, a unique weekend devoted to the future of jazz where over 130 student jazz ensembles apply to compete for a change to play at Monterey Jazz Festival, attend master classes and performances.
