Monterey Jazz Festival, in partnership with the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, is proud to present the acclaimed pianist and composer Chase Morrin on Saturday, July 15 for a special fundraising event to benefit the Museum and the Monterey Jazz Festival's educational programs.
Morrin, a San Diego native, was a 2011 Next Generation Jazz Orchestra member and recently graduated from Harvard with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Neurobiology, while simultaneously earning a Masters in Music from New England Conservatory. Chase currently attends the Global Jazz Institute at Berklee College of Music and has garnered many accolades, including awards from ASCAP and DownBeat Magazine.
Also appearing are The Young Lions from the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory, led by the school's founder and Artistic Director, Gilbert Castellanos, and the Cool Cats, a San Diego youth jazz group led by Nate Mills.
