2012 Jazz Legends Gala Honors Jack DeJohnette, September 20
 The
5th Annual Jazz Legends Gala will honor legendary jazz
drummer and 2012 NEA Jazz Master, Jack
DeJohnette,
at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel & Spa in Monterey
on September 20, 2012. The evening includes a cocktail
reception, gourmet dinner, silent auction and entertainment
from Monterey Jazz Festival's Artist-In-Residence,
Ambrose Akinmusire and his Quintet. Hosting the Jazz
Legends Gala is Monterey Jazz Festival Board Director,
Clint Eastwood and his wife Dina. Seating is limited.

 Volunteering
at the Monterey Jazz Festival is a fun way to give back
to the community! Opportunities range
from office work and assisting stage crews, selling programs
and interacting with fans, with slots available during
Festival week of September 17 through September 24, 2012.

End Celebration in Sand City, August 24!
 The 11th
Annual Sand City West End Celebration on Friday, August 24 is an evening
of jazz, R&B, art, community, and is a fundraiser for two very
special Sand City residents, Susan Collins and Matthew
Pierce, who are battling cancer.
Artists include For the Love
of Ray--an all-star lineup of Central Coast musicians, including a
five-piece horn section, vocalists Malinda DeRouen, Lee Durley, John “Broadway” Tucker,
Daniel Simpson, and a host of special guest artists, performing a tribute to
the late, great Ray Charles!
Also appearing will be the Monterey Jazz
Festival’s High School All-Star Band,
Aporia, (featuring vocalist Julie Capili), and young
R&B sensations Matt Maish & the Messengers.
This special celebration begins at 7:00pm on Friday,
8/24 at Carmel Stone Imports,1725 Contra Costa Street
in Sand City. Advance tickets are available at Sweet
Elena’s Bakery and Post No Bills in Sand City;
Do Re Mi Music in Carmel, at Sand City Hall, and
