At the core of Monterey Jazz Festival’s education programs, the Next Generation
Jazz Orchestra is made up of the most talented high school musicians from around
the United States. For the 41st edition of the band, they’ll be joined
by former member and 2012 Monterey Jazz Festival Artist-In-Residence,
Bassist and vocalist Esperanza Spalding made history last year when she became
the first jazz musician to receive the GRAMMY® for Best New Artist! A triumphant

in 2012 as Official Beers of the Monterey Jazz Festival
for their seventh year! You’ll find North Coast
beers–Scrimshaw Pilsner, Red Seal Ale, and
Brother Thelonious–at all Festival bars, and
cool Brother Thelonious gear at the North Coast Brewing
Company booth on the Midway. The brewery makes a
donation to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz
