For over 30 years, some of the best professional jazz musicians in the country have been motivating young people to push boundaries at Monterey Jazz Festival's Summer Jazz Camp. Join them! You'll be gently encouraged to achieve more, while at the same time experiencing support from your peers to reach that next level and expand your comfort zone.

Find inspiration everywhere you turn on the forested Stevenson School campus in Pebble Beach, California, or breathe in the crisp, fresh air on a short walk to one of the most beautiful shorelines on the planet.

  • Big Bands: Learn phrasing, blend, rhythm section techniques in a large jazz ensemble
  • Combos: Develop improvisational skills in a group tailored to your level
  • Master classes: Focus on instrument-specific technique, theory and jazz language
  • Vocal workshops: Explore ensemble blend, interpretation, scat singing and more
  • Camp-wide clinics: Featuring MJF's 2017 Artists-In-Residence, John Clayton, Gerald Clayton, and Jeff Hamilton (High School Session only)
  • Jam sessions: Fun and relaxed playtime with students and faculty
  • Performances: Share what you’ve learned with family and friends
  • Free time: Enjoy the stunning Pebble Beach campus, sports facilities and pool

Monterey Jazz Festival offers a Residential Camp option where the student stays on campus for the entire week of camp. Residents receive accommodations in the Stevenson School dorms and three meals each day. We also offer a Day Camp option for those students who choose to stay at home and commute to camp each day.
