90th Birthday Tribute to
Stan Getz: Reimagining
the music from Captain
Marvel with Billy Childs,
Scott Colley & Peter
Saxophonist Joel Frahm,
one of the unsung heroes of his generation, has teamed up with some of the premier jazz musicians of today—pianist Billy Childs, bassist Scott Colley, and drummer Peter Erskine—to reinterpret and reimagine Stan Getz's watershed 1972 record Captain Marvel, to celebrate what would have been Getz's 90th birthday in 2017. This is an exclusive MJF60 presentation!
Captain Marvel, one of Stan Getz's best recordings of the 1970s, was his contribution to the fusion era. It was also one of the defining albums of Getz's career. Joining forces with Getz on this explosive record were pianist Chick Corea, percussionist Airto, bassist Stanley Clarke, and drummer Tony Williams.
