Saturday in the Arena is a Hot Afternoon and a Cool Night!

Saturday Afternoon, 9.22 / Jimmy Lyons Stage
The “Sacred Steel” of Robert Randolph will make you believe! Funk, soul, blues and Gospel are only the beginning of the ride in this auspicious debut of a major new artist!

Saturday Afternoon, 9.22 / Jimmy Lyons Stage
In 2010, Trombone Shorty made a once-in-a-lifetime legendary debut at Monterey. Prepare to be blown away when the Tremé-born jazz ambassador to the world brings New Orleans’s 6th Ward to Monterey once again!

BILL FRISELL'S BIG SUR QUINTET: The Music of Glen Deven Ranch*
Saturday Night, 9.22 / Jimmy Lyons Stage
Guitarist and 2012 Commission Artist Bill Frisell’s new piece is inspired by the grandeur of Glen Deven Ranch in Big Sur! Combining Bill’s 858 Quartet and Beautiful Dreamers Trio, the quintet features Eyvind Kang, Jenny Scheinman, Hank Roberts and Rudy Royston.

Saturday Night, 9.22 / Jimmy Lyons Stage

Three generations of incredible musicians ignite the stage! Pat is one of the most influential guitarists in jazz; Jack is hands-down one of the greatest drummers—period—and Christian is a legendary presence in multiple genres of music. All three of them together? Wow.

Saturday Night, 9.22 / Jimmy Lyons Stage
The legendary NEA Jazz Master left his heart in Monterey in 2005. Now he’s back, at the top of his game, and at the top of the Billboard Charts–again! Please welcome 17-time Grammy Winner Tony Bennett back to the Jimmy Lyons Stage for a powerful performance.
