In partnership with Monterey County Gives, Monterey Jazz Festival seeks to celebrate girls and women in jazz by providing inspirational mentorship opportunities by our female artists to the young women who participate in our education programs.

Three standouts of our high-caliber team of women artists in 2016 include GRAMMY-winning drummer and bandleader Terri Lyne Carrington; rising star on jazz flute and Next Generation Jazz Orchestra alumna Elena Pinderhughes; and rising star jazz bassist and composer Marika Galea, among others.

The vision of Monterey Jazz Festival is to enrich life through jazz. The 2016 Monterey Jazz Festival Artist-In-Residence Terri Lyne Carrington has said “Our music artistry should not be disconnected from our lives or ourselves."

With your help we can be a part of the crusade that ensures music, and jazz, is made available to all young people. Please click the MC Gives logo to give to MJF.

Monterey County Gives! began November 10 and ends at midnight on December 31. MJF will receive a match up to $75,000 – the more MJF raises by the end of 2016, the more Monterey County Gives will contribute! Our work would not be possible without your support.

Monterey County Gives! is made possible by the Monterey County Weekly’s Community Fund at the Community Foundation for Monterey County.
